What does Gloo Stand For?
“Gloo” is a playful spelling of “Glue” - referring to the glue that binds books together. We believe storytelling brings people and communities together.
What sets Gloo Books apart rom other indie presses?
We are intent on telling stories from those that have been traditionally excluded or overlooked by the publishing industry. We scour the world for unique perspectives and obsess over how the story should be told and illustrated to its audience.
Why can't I buy your books through a distributor?
We sell directly to our readers and directly distribute our books to bookstores, libraries, schools and organizations. This ownership of our own distribution has given us freedom to publish important stories free from the barriers of industry gatekeepers and is critical to a fledgling business like ours by keeping our profits within our organization, which we reinvest to make more books.
Are your books available in physical stores and libraries?
YES! We love supporting local bookstores and shops. Our books are in the catalogs of many large and small library systems like the Los Angeles Public Library and the New York Public Library. Here is a list of shops and libraries that currently carry our books. If you want to see our books in your local bookstore,- simply reach out to them and suggest our titles as we are rapidly growing our physical presence at retail. You can also reach out to your local library to recommend our books to add to their collection.
